Is laser hair removal permanent?
Reviewed for clinical consistency with Dr. Divyanshee Bishnoi’s team at Suncity Dentaglow, Shastri Nagar, Jodhpur.
Laser hair removal is best described as long-term reduction, not a forever guarantee. Hormones, incomplete courses, and genetics affect how much hair returns—maintenance sessions are common and normal.
Why clinics should avoid “permanent” promises
Hair grows in cycles. A full series reduces density and speed of regrowth for many patients, but follicles can reactivate—especially with hormonal change, PCOS, pregnancy-related shifts, or missed sessions.
At Suncity Dentaglow we publish starting packages from ₹7,999 by area, explain maintenance honestly, and screen skin type and medications before settings are chosen. Marketing that says “never shave again after one visit” is not how we counsel patients.
What “success” usually looks like
Thinner, slower regrowth after several sessions; clearer skin with less daily shaving or waxing. Some fine vellus hair may remain. Face hair often needs more realistic maintenance talk than underarms.
Photos and session notes help you see progress. Stopping mid-course because “it didn’t vanish overnight” is the most common reason people feel disappointed.
Hormones, men, and body areas
Hormonal face hair, beard zones, and dense chest or back hair can need longer courses or touch-ups. Men and women are both treated after assessment—goals (full reduction vs tidy neckline) change the map.
Medications and medical conditions matter. Bring a short history to consultation so we do not set false expectations or unsafe parameters.
Maintenance and next steps
Many patients book occasional touch-ups months later. Frequency varies by area and hormones—we reassess rather than sell open-ended “unlimited forever” packages without review.

Patient questions
Will I need maintenance forever?
Many people book occasional touch-ups. Exact frequency varies—we reassess rather than lock you into endless sessions blindly.
Does “permanent reduction” mean zero hair?
No. It usually means lasting reduction in density and growth rate. Residual fine hair can remain.
Can PCOS stop laser from working?
Laser can still help selected patients after assessment, but hormones may slow progress or raise maintenance needs. Medical PCOS care is separate from cosmetic laser.
